Tracking Assets in the Field Guardian Mobile Monitoring Systems announced that their GPS tracking system enabled the recovery of over $25,000 in stolen oil field equipment in October. The oil field equipment, known as chart recorders, was being stolen in batches from production sites every month for the past year. While each chart recorder is worth under $5,000, the ultimate cost of the theft can be many times that amount due to the productivity lost while the recorders were out of commission.

CatfishGPS Creates Values for Customers

Want to keep track of your installation staff? Want to make sure your sales people are where they say they are? If so, then maybe Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is exactly what your company needs. Over the last several years there has been significant interest in how the security alarm industry can benefit by offering customers new security and productivity solutions based on Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

While interest in selling GPS solutions continues to grow, many security companies find tremendous value by implementing GPS-based mobile monitoring solutions within their own business.

In general, GPS-based mobile monitoring is when a device with a GPS receiver transmits over the cellular network location, speed and other critical data about a vehicle to a software application, which can then be accessed by one or more individuals within a company. Mobile monitoring systems typically require the customer to license software and a mapping engine, or utilize a Web-based system. With today’s cellular networks providing coverage to the vast majority of the populated areas within Canada and the United States, mobile monitoring is available to nearly everyone.
